Sermon; The Ninth Sunday after Pentecost: "A People of Faith; A People of Hope"
Date: August 11, 2019
Liturgical Day: The Ninth Sunday after Pentecost (Proper 14C)
Some people live with a foolish nonchalance; others with a deep-seated fear that something awful is about to happen. Jesus calls us to live with neither. His understanding of what life is meant to be is grounded in the goodness of God. Even when there seems to be no hope, we know there is: because we know God. So we receive the Lord’s words as an encouragement: “Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
